Orson Welles and H.G. Wells

Here is something interesting one of the writers at Gatekeeper Audio Productions found while searching for one of the old War of the Worlds radio broadcasts. It is an interview/conversation between H.G. Wells and Orson Welles. We all found this very intriguing and entertaining to listen to.

If you are unfamiliar with The War of the Worlds we strongly encourage you to look it up. H.G. Wells was an English author who wrote the novel The War of the Worlds published in 1898, who became popular amongst the science fiction writer community.

Jump forward 40 years during October 30th, 1938. American film director, actor, and writer Orson Welles, decided to take his own spin making  The War of the Worlds Radio Drama  using the power of radio broadcast. It was meant to be a Halloween prank, but unknown to Orson, citizens within the United States actually believed the world was being attack by martians! If anything this showed how powerful sound effects, good acting, and a great story could really grab the listeners and pull them into the story.

Check out the video, its definitely an interesting piece to listen to.

Studio 87.9

Much like H.G. Wells story adapted into an old time radio play by Orson Welles "War of the Worlds", Joey Coleman is a Detroit radio personality who finds his planet and city in the midst of an other worldly invasion. Joey reports details of the crisis via microphone and acts as a liberator of sorts to his listeners.

But who are these invaders and what do they want? And what is their reasoning for wiping out the human species? Are they just seeking universal domination or is there a bigger picture here?

One thing for Joey Coleman is certain, the universe is a dark and mysterious place, and nothing is as it seems.
